Beautiful, unique maple platter.   This unusual piece has spectacular figure.  The photographs do not do it justice.  The grain swirls in many directions, there are fish-eye elements to it, and parts of it have an iridescent glimmer ("chatoyance").    While it can be used as a tray or a fruit dish, it makes a most distinctive center piece.  It makes a statement.

At almost 17" x 2", you expect it to weigh more than it does.  It feels deceptively lightweight. The sides are straight, the bottom is flat, and there is a small bead on the outside of the rim to aid in holding it.

It is finished with food-safe linseed oil and beeswax.
